Mark 6
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
1And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Sending Out the Twelve
7And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
John the Baptist Beheaded
14And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
15Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
17For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
18For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
22And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
24And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
Feeding the Five Thousand
30And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
34And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
37He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
38He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
42And they did all eat, and were filled.
43And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
Jesus Walks on the Sea
45And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
47And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
50For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
51And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
Many Touch Him and Are Made Well
53And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
55And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

1Saiu Jesus dali, e foi para a sua terra, e os seus discípulos o seguiam.
2Ora, chegando o sábado, começou a ensinar na sinagoga; e muitos, ao ouví-lo, se maravilhavam, dizendo: Donde lhe vêm estas coisas? e que sabedoria é esta que lhe é dada? e como se fazem tais milagres por suas mãos?
3Não é este o carpinteiro, filho de Maria, irmão de Tiago, de José, de Judas e de Simão? e não estão aqui entre nós suas irmãs? E escandalizavam-se dele.
4Então Jesus lhes dizia: Um profeta não fica sem honra senão na sua terra, entre os seus parentes, e na sua própria casa.
5E não podia fazer ali nenhum milagre, a não ser curar alguns poucos enfermos, impondo-lhes as mãos.
6E admirou-se da incredulidade deles. Em seguida percorria as aldeias circunvizinhas, ensinando.
As instruções para os doze – Mateus 10.5-15; Lucas 9.1-6
7E chamou a si os doze, e começou a enviá-los a dois e dois, e dava-lhes poder sobre os espíritos imundos;
8ordenou-lhes que nada levassem para o caminho, senão apenas um bordão; nem pão, nem alforje, nem dinheiro no cinto;
9mas que fossem calçados de sandálias, e que não vestissem duas túnicas.
10Dizia-lhes mais: Onde quer que entrardes numa casa, ficai nela até sairdes daquele lugar.

12Então saíram e pregaram que todos se arrependessem;

A morte de João Batista – Mateus 14.1-12; Lucas 9.7-9
14E soube disso o rei Herodes (porque o nome de Jesus se tornara célebre), e disse: João, o Batista, ressuscitou dos mortos; e por isso estes poderes milagrosos operam nele.
15Mas outros diziam: É Elias. E ainda outros diziam: É profeta como um dos profetas.
16Herodes, porém, ouvindo isso, dizia: É João, aquele a quem eu mandei degolar: ele ressuscitou.
17Porquanto o próprio Herodes mandara prender a João, e encerrá-lo maniatado no cárcere, por causa de Herodias, mulher de seu irmão Filipe; porque ele se havia casado com ela.
18Pois João dizia a Herodes: Não te é lícito ter a mulher de teu irmão.
19Por isso Herodias lhe guardava rancor e queria matá-lo, mas não podia;
20porque Herodes temia a João, sabendo que era varão justo e santo, e o guardava em segurança; e, ao ouvi-lo, ficava muito perplexo, contudo de boa mente o escutava. 21Chegado, porém, um dia oportuno quando Herodes no seu aniversário natalício ofereceu um banquete aos grandes da sua corte, aos principais da Galiléia,
22entrou a filha da mesma Herodias e, dançando, agradou a Herodes e aos convivas. Então o rei disse ã jovem: Pede-me o que quiseres, e eu to darei.
23E jurou-lhe, dizendo: Tudo o que me pedires te darei, ainda que seja metade do meu reino.
24Tendo ela saído, perguntou a sua mãe: Que pedirei? Ela respondeu: A cabeça de João, o Batista.
25E tornando logo com pressa à presença do rei, pediu, dizendo: Quero que imediatamente me dês num prato a cabeça de João, o Batista.
26Ora, entristeceu-se muito o rei; todavia, por causa dos seus juramentos e por causa dos que estavam à mesa, não lha quis negar.
27O rei, pois, enviou logo um soldado da sua guarda com ordem de trazer a cabeça de João. Então ele foi e o degolou no cárcere,
28e trouxe a cabeça num prato e a deu à jovem, e a jovem a deu à sua mãe.
29Quando os seus discípulos ouviram isso, vieram, tomaram o seu corpo e o puseram num sepulcro.
30Reuniram-se os apóstolos com Jesus e contaram-lhe tudo o que tinham feito e ensinado.
A primeira multiplicação dos pães – Mateus 14.13-21; Lucas 9.10-17; João 6.1-14
31Ao que ele lhes disse: Vinde vós, à parte, para um lugar deserto, e descansai um pouco. Porque eram muitos os que vinham e iam, e não tinham tempo nem para comer.
32Retiraram-se, pois, no barco para um lugar deserto, à parte.
33Muitos, porém, os viram partir, e os reconheceram; e para lá correram a pé de todas as cidades, e ali chegaram primeiro do que eles.
34E Jesus, ao desembarcar, viu uma grande multidão e compadeceu-se deles, porque eram como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e começou a ensinar-lhes muitas coisas.
35Estando a hora já muito adiantada, aproximaram-se dele seus discípulos e disseram: O lugar é deserto, e a hora já está muito adiantada;
36despede-os, para que vão aos sítios e às aldeias, em redor, e comprem para si o que comer.
37Ele, porém, lhes respondeu: Dai-lhes vós de comer. Então eles lhe perguntaram: Havemos de ir comprar duzentos denários de pão e dar-lhes de comer?
38Ao que ele lhes disse: Quantos pães tendes? Ide ver. E, tendo-se informado, responderam: Cinco pães e dois peixes.
39Então lhes ordenou que a todos fizessem reclinar-se, em grupos, sobre a relva verde.
40E reclinaram-se em grupos de cem e de cinquenta.
41E tomando os cinco pães e os dois peixes, e erguendo os olhos ao céu, os abençoou; partiu os pães e os entregava a seus discípulos para lhos servirem; também repartiu os dois peixes por todos.
42E todos comeram e se fartaram.
43Em seguida, recolheram doze cestos cheios dos pedaços de pão e de peixe.
44Ora, os que comeram os pães eram cinco mil homens.
Jesus anda por sobre o mar – Mateus 14.22-36; João 6.15-21
45Logo em seguida obrigou os seus discípulos a entrar no barco e passar adiante, para o outro lado, a Betsaida, enquanto ele despedia a multidão.
46E, tendo-a despedido, foi ao monte para orar.
47Chegada a tardinha, estava o barco no meio do mar, e ele sozinho em terra.
48E, vendo-os fatigados a remar, porque o vento lhes era contrário, pela quarta vigília da noite, foi ter com eles, andando sobre o mar; e queria passar-lhes adiante;
49eles, porém, ao vê-lo andando sobre o mar, pensaram que era um fantasma e gritaram;
50porque todos o viram e se assustaram; mas ele imediatamente falou com eles e disse-lhes: Tende ânimo; sou eu; não temais.
51E subiu para junto deles no barco, e o vento cessou; e ficaram, no seu íntimo, grandemente pasmados;
52pois não tinham compreendido o milagre dos pães, antes o seu coração estava endurecido.
Jesus em Genezaré – Mateus 14.34,36
53E, terminada a travessia, chegaram à terra em Genezaré, e ali atracaram.
54Logo que desembarcaram, o povo reconheceu a Jesus;
55e correndo eles por toda aquela região, começaram a levar nos leitos os que se achavam enfermos, para onde ouviam dizer que ele estava.
56Onde quer, pois, que entrava, fosse nas aldeias, nas cidades ou nos campos, apresentavam os enfermos nas praças, e rogavam-lhe que os deixasse tocar ao menos a orla do seu manto; e todos os que a tocavam ficavam curados.

1 Salió Jesús de allí y vino a su tierra, y le seguían sus discípulos.
2 Y llegado el día de reposo, comenzó a enseñar en la sinagoga; y muchos, oyéndole, se admiraban, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene éste estas cosas? ¿Y qué sabiduría es esta que le es dada, y estos milagros que por sus manos son hechos?
3 ¿No es éste el carpintero, hijo de María, hermano de Jacobo, de José, de Judas y de Simón? ¿No están también aquí con nosotros sus hermanas? Y se escandalizaban de él.
4 Mas Jesús les decía: No hay profeta sin honra sino en su propia tierra, y entre sus parientes, y en su casa.
5 Y no pudo hacer allí ningún milagro, salvo que sanó a unos pocos enfermos, poniendo sobre ellos las manos.
6 Y estaba asombrado de la incredulidad de ellos. Y recorría las aldeas de alrededor, enseñando.

7 Después llamó a los doce, y comenzó a enviarlos de dos en dos; y les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos. 8 Y les mandó que no llevasen nada para el camino, sino solamente bordón; ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero en el cinto,
9 sino que calzasen sandalias, y no vistiesen dos túnicas.

Muerte de Juan el Bautista - (Mt. 14.1-12; Lc. 9.7-9)
14 Oyó el rey Herodes la fama de Jesús, porque su nombre se había hecho notorio; y dijo: Juan el Bautista ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso actúan en él estos poderes.
15 Otros decían: Es Elías. Y otros decían: Es un profeta, o alguno de los profetas.
16 Al oír esto Herodes, dijo: Este es Juan, el que yo decapité, que ha resucitado de los muertos.
17 Porque el mismo Herodes había enviado y prendido a Juan, y le había encadenado en la cárcel por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano; pues la había tomado por mujer.
18 Porque Juan decía a Herodes: No te es lícito tener la mujer de tu hermano.
19 Pero Herodías le acechaba, y deseaba matarle, y no podía;
20 porque Herodes temía a Juan, sabiendo que era varón justo y santo, y le guardaba a salvo; y oyéndole, se quedaba muy perplejo, pero le escuchaba de buena gana.
21 Pero venido un día oportuno, en que Herodes, en la fiesta de su cumpleaños, daba una cena a sus príncipes y tribunos y a los principales de Galilea,
22 entrando la hija de Herodías, danzó, y agradó a Herodes y a los que estaban con él a la mesa; y el rey dijo a la muchacha: Pídeme lo que quieras, y yo te lo daré.
23 Y le juró: Todo lo que me pidas te daré, hasta la mitad de mi reino.
24 Saliendo ella, dijo a su madre: ¿Qué pediré? Y ella le dijo: La cabeza de Juan el Bautista.
25 Entonces ella entró prontamente al rey, y pidió diciendo: Quiero que ahora mismo me des en un plato la cabeza de Juan el Bautista.
26 Y el rey se entristeció mucho; pero a causa del juramento, y de los que estaban con él a la mesa, no quiso desecharla.
27 Y en seguida el rey, enviando a uno de la guardia, mandó que fuese traída la cabeza de Juan.
28 El guarda fue, le decapitó en la cárcel, y trajo su cabeza en un plato y la dio a la muchacha, y la muchacha la dio a su madre.
29 Cuando oyeron esto sus discípulos, vinieron y tomaron su cuerpo, y lo pusieron en un sepulcro.
Alimentación de los cinco mil - (Mt. 14.13-21; Lc. 9.10-17; Jn. 6.1-14)
30 Entonces los apóstoles se juntaron con Jesús, y le contaron todo lo que habían hecho, y lo que habían enseñado.
31 El les dijo: Venid vosotros aparte a un lugar desierto, y descansad un poco. Porque eran muchos los que iban y venían, de manera que ni aun tenían tiempo para comer.
32 Y se fueron solos en una barca a un lugar desierto.
33 Pero muchos los vieron ir, y le reconocieron; y muchos fueron allá a pie desde las ciudades, y llegaron antes que ellos, y se juntaron a él.
34 Y salió Jesús y vio una gran multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, porque eran como ovejas que no tenían pastor; y comenzó a enseñarles muchas cosas.
35 Cuando ya era muy avanzada la hora, sus discípulos se acercaron a él, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y la hora ya muy avanzada.
36 Despídelos para que vayan a los campos y aldeas de alrededor, y compren pan, pues no tienen qué comer.
37 Respondiendo él, les dijo: Dadles vosotros de comer. Ellos le dijeron: ¿Que vayamos y compremos pan por doscientos denarios, y les demos de comer?
38 El les dijo: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Id y vedlo. Y al saberlo, dijeron: Cinco, y dos peces.
39 Y les mandó que hiciesen recostar a todos por grupos sobre la hierba verde.
40 Y se recostaron por grupos, de ciento en ciento, y de cincuenta en cincuenta.
41 Entonces tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces, y levantando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió los panes, y dio a sus discípulos para que los pusiesen delante; y repartió los dos peces entre todos.
42 Y comieron todos, y se saciaron.
43 Y recogieron de los pedazos doce cestas llenas, y de lo que sobró de los peces.
44 Y los que comieron eran cinco mil hombres.
Jesús anda sobre el mar - (Mt. 14.22-27; Jn. 6.15-21)
45 En seguida hizo a sus discípulos entrar en la barca e ir delante de él a Betsaida, en la otra ribera, entre tanto que él despedía a la multitud.
46 Y después que los hubo despedido, se fue al monte a orar; 47 y al venir la noche, la barca estaba en medio del mar, y él solo en tierra.
48 Y viéndoles remar con gran fatiga, porque el viento les era contrario, cerca de la cuarta vigilia de la noche vino a ellos andando sobre el mar, y quería adelantárseles.
49 Viéndole ellos andar sobre el mar, pensaron que era un fantasma, y gritaron;
50 porque todos le veían, y se turbaron. Pero en seguida habló con ellos, y les dijo: !!Tened ánimo; yo soy, no temáis!
51 Y subió a ellos en la barca, y se calmó el viento; y ellos se asombraron en gran manera, y se maravillaban.
52 Porque aún no habían entendido lo de los panes, por cuanto estaban endurecidos sus corazones.
Jesús sana a los enfermos en Genesaret - (Mt. 14.34-36)
53 Terminada la travesía, vinieron a tierra de Genesaret, y arribaron a la orilla.
54 Y saliendo ellos de la barca, en seguida la gente le conoció.
55 Y recorriendo toda la tierra de alrededor, comenzaron a traer de todas partes enfermos en lechos, a donde oían que estaba.
56 Y dondequiera que entraba, en aldeas, ciudades o campos, ponían en las calles a los que estaban enfermos, y le rogaban que les dejase tocar siquiera el borde de su manto; y todos los que le tocaban quedaban sanos.
