The Parable of the Sower
1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
The Purpose of Parables
10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
The Parable of the Sower Explained
18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares
24Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
31Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
The Parable of the Leaven
33Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Prophecy and the Parables
34All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
The Parable of the Tares Explained
36Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
The Parable of the Hidden Treasure
44Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The Parable of the Dragnet
47Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
49So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
51Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

53And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
54And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
55Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
57And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

A parábola do semeador (Mc 4.1-9; Lc 8.4-8)
1No mesmo dia, tendo Jesus saído de casa, sentou-se à beira do mar;
2e reuniram-se a ele grandes multidões, de modo que entrou num barco, e se sentou; e todo o povo estava em pé na praia.
3E falou-lhes muitas coisas por parábolas, dizendo: Eis que o semeador saiu a semear.
4e quando semeava, uma parte da semente caiu à beira do caminho, e vieram as aves e comeram.
5E outra parte caiu em lugares pedregosos, onde não havia muita terra: e logo nasceu, porque não tinha terra profunda;
6mas, saindo o sol, queimou-se e, por não ter raiz, secou-se.
7E outra caiu entre espinhos; e os espinhos cresceram e a sufocaram.
8Mas outra caiu em boa terra, e dava fruto, um a cem, outro a sessenta e outro a trinta por um.
9Quem tem ouvidos, ouça.
A explicação da parábola (Mc 4.10-20; Lc 8.9-15)
10E chegando-se a ele os discípulos, perguntaram-lhe: Por que lhes falas por parábolas?
11Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Porque a vós é dado conhecer os mistérios do reino dos céus, mas a eles não lhes é dado;
12pois ao que tem, dar-se-lhe-á, e terá em abundância; mas ao que não tem, até aquilo que tem lhe será tirado.
13Por isso lhes falo por parábolas; porque eles, vendo, não vêem; e ouvindo, não ouvem nem entendem.
14E neles se cumpre a profecia de Isaías, que diz: Ouvindo, ouvireis, e de maneira alguma entendereis; e, vendo, vereis, e de maneira alguma percebereis.
15Porque o coração deste povo se endureceu, e com os ouvidos ouviram tardamente, e fecharam os olhos, para que não vejam com os olhos, nem ouçam com os ouvidos, nem entendam com o coração, nem se convertam, e eu os cure.
16Mas bem-aventurados os vossos olhos, porque vêem, e os vossos ouvidos, porque ouvem.
17Pois, em verdade vos digo que muitos profetas e justos desejaram ver o que vedes, e não o viram; e ouvir o que ouvis, e não o ouviram.
18Ouvi, pois, vós a parábola do semeador.
19A todo o que ouve a palavra do reino e não a entende, vem o Maligno e arrebata o que lhe foi semeado no coração; este é o que foi semeado ã beira do caminho.
20E o que foi semeado nos lugares pedregosos, este é o que ouve a palavra, e logo a recebe com alegria;
21mas não tem raiz em si mesmo, antes é de pouca duração; e sobrevindo a angústia e a perseguição por causa da palavra, logo se escandaliza.
22E o que foi semeado entre os espinhos, este é o que ouve a palavra; mas os cuidados deste mundo e a sedução das riquezas sufocam a palavra, e ela fica infrutífera.
23Mas o que foi semeado em boa terra, este é o que ouve a palavra, e a entende; e dá fruto, e um produz cem, outro sessenta, e outro trinta.
A parábola do joio
24Propôs-lhes outra parábola, dizendo: O reino dos céus é semelhante ao homem que semeou boa semente no seu campo;
25mas, enquanto os homens dormiam, veio o inimigo dele, semeou joio no meio do trigo, e retirou-se.
26Quando, porém, a erva cresceu e começou a espigar, então apareceu também o joio.
27Chegaram, pois, os servos do proprietário, e disseram-lhe: Senhor, não semeaste no teu campo boa semente? Donde, pois, vem o joio?
28Respondeu-lhes: Algum inimigo é quem fez isso. E os servos lhe disseram: Queres, pois, que vamos arrancá-lo?
29Ele, porém, disse: Não; para que, ao colher o joio, não arranqueis com ele também o trigo.
30Deixai crescer ambos juntos até a ceifa; e, por ocasião da ceifa, direi aos ceifeiros: Ajuntai primeiro o joio, e atai-o em molhos para o queimar; o trigo, porém, recolhei-o no meu celeiro.
A parábola do grão de mostarda (Mc 4.30-32; Lc 13.18,19)
31Propôs-lhes outra parábola, dizendo: O reino dos céus é semelhante a um grão de mostarda que um homem tomou, e semeou no seu campo;
32o qual é realmente a menor de todas as sementes; mas, depois de ter crescido, é a maior das hortaliças, e faz-se árvore, de sorte que vêm as aves do céu, e se aninham nos seus ramos.
A parábola do fermento (Lc 13.20,21)
33Outra parábola lhes disse: O reino dos céus é semelhante ao fermento que uma mulher tomou e misturou com três medidas de farinha, até ficar tudo levedado.
Por que Jesus falou por parábolas (Mc 4.33,34)
34Todas estas coisas falou Jesus às multidões por parábolas, e sem parábolas nada lhes falava;
35para que se cumprisse o que foi dito pelo profeta: Abrirei em parábolas a minha boca; publicarei coisas ocultas desde a fundação do mundo.
A explicação da parábola do joio
36Então Jesus, deixando as multidões, entrou em casa. E chegaram-se a ele os seus discípulos, dizendo: Explica-nos a parábola do joio do campo.
37E ele, respondendo, disse: O que semeia a boa semente é o Filho do homem;
38o campo é o mundo; a boa semente são os filhos do reino; o o joio são os filhos do maligno;
39o inimigo que o semeou é o Diabo; a ceifa é o fim do mundo, e os celeiros são os anjos.
40Pois assim como o joio é colhido e queimado no fogo, assim será no fim do mundo.
41Mandará o Filho do homem os seus anjos, e eles ajuntarão do seu reino todos os que servem de tropeço, e os que praticam a iniquidade,
42e lançá-los-ão na fornalha de fogo; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.
43Então os justos resplandecerão como o sol, no reino de seu Pai. Quem tem ouvidos, ouça.
A parábola do tesouro escondido
44O reino dos céus é semelhante a um tesouro escondido no campo, que um homem, ao descobrí-lo, esconde; então, movido de gozo, vai, vende tudo quanto tem, e compra aquele campo.
A parábola da pérola
45Outrossim, o reino dos céus é semelhante a um negociante que buscava boas pérolas;
46e encontrando uma pérola de grande valor, foi, vendeu tudo quanto tinha, e a comprou.
A parábola da rede
47Igualmente, o reino dos céus é semelhante a uma rede lançada ao mar, e que apanhou toda espécie de peixes.
48E, quando cheia, puxaram-na para a praia; e, sentando-se, puseram os bons em cestos; os ruins, porém, lançaram fora.
49Assim será no fim do mundo: sairão os anjos, e separarão os maus dentre os justos,
50e lançá-los-ão na fornalha de fogo; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.
Coisas novas e velhas
51Entendestes todas estas coisas? Disseram-lhe eles: Entendemos.
52E disse-lhes: Por isso, todo escriba que se fez discípulo do reino dos céus é semelhante a um homem, proprietário, que tira do seu tesouro coisas novas e velhas.
Jesus prega em Nazaré. É rejeitado pelos seus (Mc 6.1-6; Lc 4.16-30)
Nazaré
53E Jesus, tendo concluido estas parábolas, se retirou dali.
54E, chegando ã sua terra, ensinava o povo na sinagoga, de modo que este se maravilhava e dizia: Donde lhe vem esta sabedoria, e estes poderes milagrosos?
55Não é este o filho do carpinteiro? e não se chama sua mãe Maria, e seus irmãos Tiago, José, Simão, e Judas?
56E não estão entre nós todas as suas irmãs? Donde lhe vem, pois, tudo isto?
57E escandalizavam-se dele. Jesus, porém, lhes disse: Um profeta não fica sem honra senão na sua terra e na sua própria casa.
58E não fez ali muitos milagres, por causa da incredulidade deles.

1 Aquel día salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó junto al mar.
2 Y se le juntó mucha gente; y entrando él en la barca, se sentó, y toda la gente estaba en la playa.
3 Y les habló muchas cosas por parábolas, diciendo: He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar.
4 Y mientras sembraba, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves y la comieron.
5 Parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha tierra; y brotó pronto, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;
6 pero salido el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó.
7 Y parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron, y la ahogaron.
8 Pero parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto, cuál a ciento, cuál a sesenta, y cuál a treinta por uno.

Jesús explica la parábola del sembrador (Mr. 4.13-20; Lc. 8.11-15)
18 Oíd, pues, vosotros la parábola del sembrador:
19 Cuando alguno oye la palabra del reino y no la entiende, viene el malo, y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Este es el que fue sembrado junto al camino.
20 Y el que fue sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra, y al momento la recibe con gozo;
21 pero no tiene raíz en sí, sino que es de corta duración, pues al venir la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, luego tropieza.
22 El que fue sembrado entre espinos, éste es el que oye la palabra, pero el afán de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la palabra, y se hace infructuosa.

Parábola del trigo y la cizaña
24 Les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo;
25 pero mientras dormían los hombres, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.
26 Y cuando salió la hierba y dio fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.
27 Vinieron entonces los siervos del padre de familia y le dijeron: Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?
28 El les dijo: Un enemigo ha hecho esto. Y los siervos le dijeron: ¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la arranquemos?
29 El les dijo: No, no sea que al arrancar la cizaña, arranquéis también con ella el trigo.
30 Dejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega yo diré a los segadores: Recoged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; pero recoged el trigo en mi granero.
Parábola de la semilla de mostaza (Mr. 4.30-32; Lc. 13.18-19)
31 Otra parábola les refirió, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza, que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo;
32 el cual a la verdad es la más pequeña de todas las semillas; pero cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, de tal manera que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas.
Parábola de la levadura (Lc. 13.20-21)
33 Otra parábola les dijo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que tomó una mujer, y escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo fue leudado.
El uso que Jesús hace de las parábolas (Mr. 4.33-34)
34 Todo esto habló Jesús por parábolas a la gente, y sin parábolas no les hablaba;
35 para que se cumpliese lo dicho por el profeta, cuando dijo:
Abriré en parábolas mi boca;
Declararé cosas escondidas desde la fundación del mundo.
Jesús explica la parábola de la cizaña
36 Entonces, despedida la gente, entró Jesús en la casa; y acercándose a él sus discípulos, le dijeron: Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.
37 Respondiendo él, les dijo: El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del Hombre.
38 El campo es el mundo; la buena semilla son los hijos del reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del malo.
39 El enemigo que la sembró es el diablo; la siega es el fin del siglo; y los segadores son los ángeles.
40 De manera que como se arranca la cizaña, y se quema en el fuego, así será en el fin de este siglo.
41 Enviará el Hijo del Hombre a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su reino a todos los que sirven de tropiezo, y a los que hacen iniquidad,
42 y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
43 Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.
El tesoro escondido
44 Además, el reino de los cielos es semejante a un tesoro escondido en un campo, el cual un hombre halla, y lo esconde de nuevo; y gozoso por ello va y vende todo lo que tiene, y compra aquel campo.
La perla de gran precio
45 También el reino de los cielos es semejante a un mercader que busca buenas perlas,
46 que habiendo hallado una perla preciosa, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía, y la compró.
La red
47 Asimismo el reino de los cielos es semejante a una red, que echada en el mar, recoge de toda clase de peces;
48 y una vez llena, la sacan a la orilla; y sentados, recogen lo bueno en cestas, y lo malo echan fuera.
49 Así será al fin del siglo: saldrán los ángeles, y apartarán a los malos de entre los justos,
50 y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
Tesoros nuevos y viejos
51 Jesús les dijo: ¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos respondieron: Sí, Señor.
52 El les dijo: Por eso todo escriba docto en el reino de los cielos es semejante a un padre de familia, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas.
Jesús en Nazaret (Mr. 6.1-6; Lc. 4.16-30)

53 Aconteció que cuando terminó Jesús estas parábolas, se fue de allí.
54 Y venido a su tierra, les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que se maravillaban, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene éste esta sabiduría y estos milagros?
55 ¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos, Jacobo, José, Simón y Judas?
56 ¿No están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene éste todas estas cosas?
57 Y se escandalizaban de él. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa.
58 Y no hizo allí muchos milagros, a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.
