Parables on Prayer
The Parable of the Persistent Widow
1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
The Little Children and Jesus: Jesus Blesses Little Children
15And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
The Rich Young Ruler: Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler
18And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
With God All Things Are Possible
26And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
27And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
28Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
29And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
30Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection
31Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
Bartimaeus Receives Sight
35And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
36And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
37And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
40And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
41Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
43And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

Parábolas sobre oração
A parábola do juiz iníquo
Lucas 18
1Contou-lhes também uma parábola sobre o dever de orar sempre, e nunca desfalecer.
2dizendo: Havia em certa cidade um juiz que não temia a Deus, nem respeitava os homens.
3Havia também naquela mesma cidade uma viúva que ia ter com ele, dizendo: Faze-me justiça contra o meu adversário.
4E por algum tempo não quis atendê-la; mas depois disse consigo: Ainda que não temo a Deus, nem respeito os homens,
5todavia, como esta viúva me incomoda, hei de fazer-lhe justiça, para que ela não continue a vir molestar-me.
6Prosseguiu o Senhor: Ouvi o que diz esse juiz injusto.
7E não fará Deus justiça aos seus escolhidos, que dia e noite clamam a ele, já que é longânimo para com eles?
8Digo-vos que depressa lhes fará justiça. Contudo quando vier o Filho do homem, porventura achará fé na terra?
A parábola do fariseu e do publicano
9Propôs também esta parábola a uns que confiavam em si mesmos, crendo que eram justos, e desprezavam os outros:
10Dois homens subiram ao templo para orar; um fariseu, e o outro publicano.
11O fariseu, de pé, assim orava consigo mesmo: Ó Deus, graças te dou que não sou como os demais homens, roubadores, injustos, adúlteros, nem ainda com este publicano.
12Jejuo duas vezes na semana, e dou o dízimo de tudo quanto ganho.
13Mas o publicano, estando em pé de longe, nem ainda queria levantar os olhos ao céu, mas batia no peito, dizendo: Ó Deus, sê propício a mim, o pecador!
14Digo-vos que este desceu justificado para sua casa, e não aquele; porque todo o que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado; mas o que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
Jesus abençoa as crianças – Mt 19.13-15; Mc 10.13-16
15Traziam-lhe também as crianças, para que as tocasse; mas os discípulos, vendo isso, os repreendiam.
16Jesus, porém, chamando-as para si, disse: Deixai vir a mim as crianças, e não as impeçais, porque de tais é o reino de Deus.
17Em verdade vos digo que, qualquer que não receber o reino de Deus como criança, de modo algum entrará nele.
O jovem rico – Mt 19.16-22; Mc 10.17-22
18E perguntou-lhe um dos principais: Bom Mestre, que hei de fazer para herdar a vida eterna?
19Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Por que me chamas bom? Ninguém é bom, senão um, que é Deus.
20Sabes os mandamentos: Não adulterarás; não matarás; não furtarás; não dirás falso testemunho; honra a teu pai e a tua mãe.
21Replicou o homem: Tudo isso tenho guardado desde a minha juventude.
22Quando Jesus ouviu isso, disse-lhe: Ainda te falta uma coisa; vende tudo quanto tens e reparte-o pelos pobres, e terás um tesouro no céu; e vem, segue-me.
23Mas, ouvindo ele isso, encheu-se de tristeza; porque era muito rico.
O perigo das riquezas – Mt 29.23-30; Mc 10.23-31
24E Jesus, vendo-o assim, disse: Quão dificilmente entrarão no reino de Deus os que têm riquezas!
25Pois é mais fácil um camelo passar pelo fundo duma agulha, do que entrar um rico no reino de Deus.
Com Deus todas as coisas são possíveis
26Então os que ouviram isso disseram: Quem pode, então, ser salvo?
27Respondeu-lhes: As coisas que são impossíveis aos homens são possíveis a Deus.
28Disse-lhe Pedro: Eis que nós deixamos tudo, e te seguimos.
29Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Em verdade vos digo que ninguém há que tenha deixado casa, ou mulher, ou irmãos, ou pais, ou filhos, por amor do reino de Deus,
30que não haja de receber no presente muito mais, e no mundo vindouro a vida eterna.
Jesus ainda outra vez prediz sua morte e ressurreição – Mt 20.17-19; Mc 10.32-34
31Tomando Jesus consigo os doze, disse-lhes: Eis que subimos a Jerusalém e se cumprirá no filho do homem tudo o que pelos profetas foi escrito;
32pois será entregue aos gentios, e escarnecido, injuriado e cuspido;
33e depois de o açoitarem, o matarão; e ao terceiro dia ressurgirá.
34Mas eles não entenderam nada disso; essas palavras lhes eram obscuras, e não percebiam o que lhes dizia.
A cura do cego de Jericó – Mt 20.29-34; Mc 10.46-52
35Ora, quando ele ia chegando a Jericó, estava um cego sentado junto do caminho, mendigando.
36Este, pois, ouvindo passar a multidão, perguntou que era aquilo.
37Disseram-lhe que Jesus, o nazareno, ia passando.
38Então ele se pôs a clamar, dizendo: Jesus, Filho de Davi, tem compaixão de mim!
39E os que iam à frente repreendiam-no, para que se calasse; ele, porém, clamava ainda mais: Filho de Davi, tem compaixão de mim!
40Parou, pois, Jesus, e mandou que lho trouxessem. Tendo ele chegado, perguntou-lhe:
41Que queres que te faça? Respondeu ele: Senhor, que eu veja.
42Disse-lhe Jesus: Vê; a tua fé te salvou.
43Imediatamente recuperou a vista, e o foi seguindo, glorificando a Deus. E todo o povo, vendo isso, dava louvores a Deus.

Parabolas sobre la oración
Parábola de la viuda y el juez injusto
1 También les refirió Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre, y no desmayar,
2 diciendo: Había en una ciudad un juez, que ni temía a Dios, ni respetaba a hombre.
3 Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él, diciendo: Hazme justicia de mi adversario.
4 Y él no quiso por algún tiempo; pero después de esto dijo dentro de sí: Aunque ni temo a Dios, ni tengo respeto a hombre,
5 sin embargo, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, no sea que viniendo de continuo, me agote la paciencia.
6 Y dijo el Señor: Oíd lo que dijo el juez injusto.
7 ¿Y acaso Dios no hará justicia a sus escogidos, que claman a él día y noche? ¿Se tardará en responderles?
8 Os digo que pronto les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del Hombre, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?
Parábola del fariseo y el publicano
9 A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola:
10 Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro publicano.
11 El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano;
12 ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano.
13 Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.
14 Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.(A)
Jesús bendice a los niños - (Mt. 19.13-15; Mr. 10.13-16)
15 Traían a él los niños para que los tocase; lo cual viendo los discípulos, les reprendieron.
16 Mas Jesús, llamándolos, dijo: Dejad a los niños venir a mí, y no se lo impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de Dios.
17 De cierto os digo, que el que no recibe el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.
El joven rico - (Mt. 19.16-30; Mr. 10.17-31)
18 Un hombre principal le preguntó, diciendo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna?
19 Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Ninguno hay bueno, sino sólo Dios.
20 Los mandamientos sabes: No adulterarás; no matarás; no hurtarás; no dirás falso testimonio; honra a tu padre y a tu madre.
21 Él dijo: Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud.
22 Jesús, oyendo esto, le dijo: Aún te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes, y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.
23 Entonces él, oyendo esto, se puso muy triste, porque era muy rico.
24 Al ver Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: !!Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas!
25 Porque es más fácil pasar un camello por el ojo de una aguja, que entrar un rico en el reino de Dios.
26 Y los que oyeron esto dijeron: ¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo?
27 Él les dijo: Lo que es imposible para los hombres, es posible para Dios.
28 Entonces Pedro dijo: He aquí, nosotros hemos dejado nuestras posesiones y te hemos seguido.
29 Y él les dijo: De cierto os digo, que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o padres, o hermanos, o mujer, o hijos, por el reino de Dios,
30 que no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna.
Nuevamente Jesús anuncia su muerte - (Mt. 20.17-19; Mr. 10.32-34)
31 Tomando Jesús a los doce, les dijo: He aquí subimos a Jerusalén, y se cumplirán todas las cosas escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del Hombre.
32 Pues será entregado a los gentiles, y será escarnecido, y afrentado, y escupido.
33 Y después que le hayan azotado, le matarán; mas al tercer día resucitará.
34 Pero ellos nada comprendieron de estas cosas, y esta palabra les era encubierta, y no entendían lo que se les decía.
Un ciego de Jericó recibe la vista - (Mt. 20.29-34; Mr. 10.46-52)
35 Aconteció que acercándose Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando;
36 y al oír a la multitud que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello.
37 Y le dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno.
38 Entonces dio voces, diciendo: !!Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!
39 Y los que iban delante le reprendían para que callase; pero él clamaba mucho más: !!Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!
40 Jesús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerle a su presencia; y cuando llegó, le preguntó,
41 diciendo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: Señor, que reciba la vista.
42 Jesús le dijo: Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado.
43 Y luego vio, y le seguía, glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.
